Impress™ WORKSHOP
Imagine feeling positive going into any type of situation, enjoying the experience, and knowing that you can perform to your best on every occasion. Knowing and believing that you can rise to all challenges that come your way. All pressures to perform and problem solve are taken in your stride with the same belief and spirit and optimism. Even when an issue comes out of the blue and momentarily knocks you off your stride, picture yourself quickly regaining composure and belief and working to achieve the desired outcome.
Extensive research has proven that this optimistic approach is the big predictor of success, health and longevity. And it is exactly this which the Impress seminar is designed to help you develop, regain or increase.
Alternatively, have you ever experienced a challenging situation and felt pessimistic or anxious about your chances of succeeding. Perhaps on occasion you may have felt butterflies in your stomach, or a dry mouth, or just an inability to think clearly or find the words you wanted? If so, you’ve just experienced the limitations of being human when under pressure.
Humans have well established mechanisms for limiting their own performance when under pressure. This is because we tend to trigger the fight or flight response when we’re facing a serious challenge. In practice this means that the frontal lobe of the brain is switched off to save energy. This might have been a good idea a few millennia ago when a common way to deal with problems was either to fight or run away. These days, however, it’s not so helpful. In most pressurised situations we’re not going to fight or run away. We actually need to retain our capacity to think, reason, solve problems and plan. And it’s exactly these responses that are managed by the frontal lobe.
So why is it that most people are adversely affected by pressure, when some are not? It all comes down to whether you’re an optimist or pessimist. If your natural response is one of pessimism, anxiety or frustration, your capabilities are being limited and your health is likely to be less than it could be. Wouldn’t it be better if you could face challenges with optimism, enthusiasm and motivation –proven by research to lead to success, happiness and health?
This IMPRESS™ workshop aims to ensure that participants can thrive on making those big decisions, irrespective of pressure or scale of consequences. IMPRESS™ is developed from a unique distillation of learning from Neuroscience, Cognitive Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology and Neurolinguistic Programming.
